Episode 3: Healing in the Middle of the Storm
What do you do when life feels like it's trying to break you?
In this deeply personal episode of Surviving the Storm: Finding Yourself in the Midst of Chaos, I share how this week challenged me mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially. There were moments of heartbreak, disappointment, and uncertainty, but through it all, God reminded me that He was covering me, protecting me, and calling me to trust Him completely.
One of the greatest lessons I've learned is that healing doesn't always come after the storm—it can begin right in the middle of it. Healing doesn't mean the pain immediately disappears. It doesn't mean the tears stop falling or that your heart no longer hurts. It means allowing God to walk with you through the process, giving you the strength, peace, and hope you need one day at a time.
In this episode, we'll discuss:
- How to trust God when life feels overwhelming
- Finding God's protection in the middle of life's storms
- Why healing is a journey, not a destination
- Navigating heartbreak, disappointment, and uncertainty with faith
- Holding on to God's promises when everything around you feels unstable
Whether you're facing grief, divorce, financial hardship, betrayal, illness, or another difficult season, I pray this episode reminds you that you are not alone. God is still with you, He is still working, and He is still writing your story.
Featured Scriptures:
- Psalm 46:1
- Isaiah 43:2
- Psalm 91:1–2
- Nahum 1:7
- Romans 8:28
Join me as we discover that even when the storm is raging, God is still our refuge, our protector, and our healer.
Remember: The storm may shake you, but it cannot destroy what God has chosen to protect. Your healing is already beginning—even in the middle of the storm.

Soft and reflecty. I walked the rain. I felt the pain. I cried a night. Call it his name! But through it all. I still believe. Waiting for me. I'm still finding my being again. Finding me again walking through.
SPEAKER_01Hello everyone, and welcome back to surviving the storm, finding yourself in the midst of chaos. I am your host, Katina Anderson, and I am so glad that you are here. Thank you for joining me. Whether you are listening while you are driving, sitting at home, taking a walk, or simply trying to make it through another difficult day. I am praying that this episode reaches you exactly when you need it. Today's episode is entitled Healing in the Middle of the Storm. Dear Heavenly Father, we just come before you, giving you all the honor, glory, and praise, thanking you for who you are. Thank you for waking us up this morning and letting us see another day. Dear God, right now I just ask that that your Holy Spirit penetrate this podcast, dear God. Dear God, that this podcast reaches the women who need it, God, who need this word of encouragement, God. Lord, you know their need, you know their storm. Dear God, I just ask that you just comfort them, give them strength in the middle of this, dear God. Dear God, I just ask that you just be with me, that your anointing fall on me, that I may be able to deliver the content in which you desire me to deliver. That healing comes after the storm ends. But what but what if God begins healing us while we are in the middle of the wind, the rain, the heartbreak, the disappointment, the discouragement, the depression, the betrayal, the uncertainty. That's what we're gonna be talking about today. Sometimes the storm feels too heavy. And let's be honest, there are going to be seasons in our life that hurt, that we don't know how we are going to make it through. And there are going to be days that you wake up exhausted before your feet even hit the floor. You smile for everyone else when you are literally carrying the pain that nobody else can see. You pray, you cry, you wonder if things are ever going to get better. And sometimes the storm becomes so overwhelming that you feel like you are just barely surviving. You're barely getting by, barely getting by. Maybe you're dealing with divorce, maybe you're grieving, maybe someone has betrayed your trust. Maybe you're questioning why God has allowed this to happen to you. The truth is, storms hurt. So if we think about a storm, you know, all of a sudden it could be a bright and sunny day, and the storm comes out of nowhere. The sky gets dark, the clouds roll in, and then immediately the rain begins to come down, the thunder, the lightning, the hail. And so being a Christian does not mean that the storms are not going to hurt. They're going to hurt. This week I experienced a storm that I thought was going to break me. Physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially. But God covered me during that storm. And I'm so thankful that I serve a God who sits high and looks low and knows when to come and comfort his children. And so even though we're a Christian, doesn't mean we're exempt from the storms. The storms are gonna come. But the storms come to make us strong, to equip us for the next storm that may be coming in our life. And one thing that I've learned that God never leaves us, He never forsakes us. He is right there in the middle with us. Sometimes He walks us through the storm. Sometimes He picks us up and He carries us, just like footprints in the sand. You look down and there's only one set of footprints. And God says, because I carried you. And so the enemy wants you to believe that because you are living this life, and because life is so difficult, the storms are raging that God has abandoned you. But the scripture tells us totally different. God is present with every tear, every sleepless night, in every courtroom, every doctor's office, every lonely moment, even when you can't feel him, he is there. God will hide you. And I am so thankful that God will hide you in his secret place to just cover you so the storm does not bruise you and knock you down. And God knows how to protect his children. Protection doesn't always mean that the storm disappears. So you know a storm can come and there's remnants of the storm. So there's still drizzle, there's still a little thunder and lightning. The storm is is still technically there, but God's protection hides you while the storm passes over. He shields your mind, he guards your heart, he preserves your purpose, he keeps you from the things that you didn't even know that were coming. And I and I'm so thankful of that because God knows what's coming. He knows what weapon is being formed against us, and and I'm so thankful for that. But the storm may be raging around you, but God becomes your shelter. You may bend, you may cry, you may feel weak, but because you are covered by God, you are not destroyed. Healing doesn't mean you no longer hurt. Healing isn't pretending that everything is okay. Healing doesn't mean that you never cry again. Healing doesn't mean that it's going to erase those painful memories. You can go through trauma and you could hear something. Somebody could say a phrase, a comment, and you can have a flashback. That hurt, that painful memory is still there, but healing means those memories no longer control your future. It means that you are learning to trust God one day at a time. Healing means choosing faith when fear wants to take over. Healing means believing that your story isn't over. And sometimes healing is just simply getting out of the bed, putting two feet on the ground. And sometimes healing is choosing not to quit. Sometimes healing is praying through the tears. God honors every small step that you make. Trusting God through the storm. Trust is difficult. It's hard to trust when you are, you have that storm coming next year. And it's it's one thing that the rain is coming, but now the wind is coming. Now the thunder's coming. Now the lightning's coming. Now it's it's flooding. Um, now the hail is coming. It's it's hard to trust. But we have to realize that God will never leave us, never forsake us, and he's never seen the righteous forsaken. But faith isn't based on what we see. Faith is believing that God is working on our behalf, even when we don't see or understand his plan. God has never told us, promised us that storms won't come. He promised us that he would never leave us. When you can't see the shoreline, keep holding on to God. When you don't know what tomorrow looks like, keep holding on to God. When people disappoint you, hold on to God. When life feels unfair, hold on to God. He is still faithful. This week alone, I cried on Monday in tears, crying out to God, didn't know what to do. And in the midst of my tears, and in the midst of me singing smoky norvels, I need you now because I needed God in my situation at that very moment. I was hurt, I was upset, I was angry, and in the midst of me crying out to God, God told me, go and check your email. And when I checked my email, when I checked my email, there was the answer. God had already worked it out. I just needed to trust him and listen to his voice and know that he had it. So scriptures for encouragement. Psalms 41, excuse me, Psalms 46, 1. God is our referee refuge and strength in a very present health and trouble. Isaiah 43, 2. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. Psalms 91, 1 through 2. He who dwelleth in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the Almighty. And I'm so thankful. I am so thankful that my God has a secret place where I can go. That the storms will not harm me. That that situation that I think looks bleak and dark, God can give me refuge. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress. My God in Him I will trust. Nahim 1 7, the Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble, and He knows those who trust in Him. Romans 8 28. And we know all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord, to those who are called according to His purpose. And so I want to challenge you this week to talk honestly with God. Take your mask off. Be authentic. Talk to him. Tell him exactly how you feel. You don't have to pretend. God knows. We walk around with our mask on our face trying to shield the pain and put on this front and for facade. But God already knows. He created, he created us. He knows. And so we don't have to hide our tears. God already knows our heart. And then I want you to write down one thing each day that reminds you God is still with you. Maybe it's a kind word to a stranger. Maybe it's a sunrise. Maybe it's the fact that you just simply got up and you made it through another day. Small reminders become powerful evidence that God is still working in our life. And so daily affirmations, I want you to repeat these. I am covered by God's grace. My storm will not destroy me. God is healing me one day at a time. I trust God's timing. I am stronger than my circumstance because Christ strengthens me. I choose faith over fear. I'm not going to be fearful of my situation. I am going to trust in God and trust. I'm going to use my faith. I'm going to tap into my faith. I'm going to activate it. Faith without works is dead. So we got to practice that faith. God is my refuge and my safe place. I will survive the storm. And I am becoming who God has called me to be. So, dear Heavenly Father, I just want to thank you right now for this podcast. I want to thank you for the individuals listening, dear God. Lord, I pray that this podcast touched their hearts, touched their minds, dear God. Dear God, you know the storm that these women are facing, dear God. And Lord, I ask that you give them strength to get up each day. Lord, I ask that you give them strength to tap into the faith. Lord, I ask that you just cover them, dear God. Give them refuge during that storm, dear God. Lord, if they need healing, heal. If they need a financial breakthrough, Lord, deliver. Lord, if they just need a peace of mind, Lord, bless them. Lord, you know their need, and I ask that you just fulfill. Dear God, I just thank you for this opportunity to speak of your goodness. Dear God, and I pray that the words that you have given me that I am pouring into others, dear God, that it will be a blessing, dear God. Lord, I just thank you, and I give you all the honor, glory, and praise. In your son Jesus Christ's name we pray. Amen. And so thank you for joining me for another episode of surviving the storm, finding yourself in the midst of chaos. And I pray that this episode encouraged you. Please share it with someone who needs help today. Please remember that the storm may shake you, but it can't separate you from God's love and God's purpose for your life. Healing is happening. Even in the midst of the storm, even when you can't see it, keep trusting him. Because he's carrying you. Every step of the journey. Every step. When you feel like you can't make another step, he's there. To encourage you to keep going. I know I'm a living witness this week alone. God told me I got you. I got you. And so he has you too. So until next time, keep trusting God. Keep believing and keep surviving the storm. God bless. And until next time. Anyway.
